Rewarding Customer Service Opportunities – Business Depot’s Meegan Ryan

The bubbly and vivacious Meegan from Business Depot shared her personal experience from the candidate perspective. She clearly demonstrates that  tenacity and positivity are the keys to success!

Tell us a bit about yourself, and your role.

I have been in the role of Receptionist/Admin now for approximately 16 years. Before that I was a Manager/Sales Assistant in the Retail Jewellery Industry. So, my love for customer service and satisfaction has been a long one and one that I take very seriously.

To provide that client, customer, visitor – and even vendors – a happy experience when entering the business is what I always aim for and I am lucky it comes naturally to me. I have always practised the motto that you should always treat people how you would like to be treated!

What are two positives you can tell us about returning to work post COVID ?

Like many other employees, COVID provided a few challenges in the employment space. Unfortunately I was made redundant from my previous role which was quite a testing situation to be faced with. I had been employed by my previous employer for some twelve years. The positives from this challenging moment were that I was able to take stock of my skillset and luckily I am surrounded a by supportive and helpful network. My two positives from this situation were:

  1. Being tagged by a friend in a Receptionist role on LinkedIn that Majer Recruitment had posted was a HUGE positive for me, as I was successful and I can’t stop thanking my friend as I wasn’t looking on LinkedIn that day!
  2. Another positive in returning to work after four months of being unemployed is having interaction again with work colleagues. Although they are all new work colleagues for me, it’s been uplifting and I’m now looking forward to what my future holds here.

What is the best career advice you have received?

Always find a positive, even though things may look bleak at the time, something else is waiting just around the corner. New opportunities can be awakening and rewarding.

Describe Majer in three words:

Only Three?????

  • Positive
  • Encouraging
  • Friendly

The key takeaway from Meegan’s story for us is that you never know where or when the next opportunity will arise. If you have found yourself in a challenging predicament with employment and stability during COVID, make sure you keep your eyes and ears open for all possibilities. Contact Suzie and the team at Majer for a confidential conversation. You never know where that chat may take us!
