Tell us a bit about yourself, and your role.
Planning the next overseas holiday is a permanent state of mind for me but for the time being I’m thinking about where I will explore in my own home state (Queensland of course) and country when we are able to get out and about again.
I have had a long work history of senior administrative roles, Executive Assistant or Board Secretariat, sometimes both at the same time, in a range of industries. I’ve worked in the private sector in finance, law, resources and construction, in the public sector in Government-Owned Corporations and Statutory Bodies and in the not-for-profit sector – so I’ve had a broad education!
I met with Nia last year when it was time to consider a move back into the private sector and she was able to see past the job title to what I enjoy most and introduced me to Lexon Insurance where I am now Legal Risk Assistant. I am part of the Knowledge Management team, focussing on our suite of resources for the legal profession.
What are two positives you can tell us about your new situation due to the current climate?
Like many people, not needing to commute has given me time for more exercise than I can usually manage, and we have to consciously work at maintaining relationships. Hopefully they are two habits that won’t disappear when life changes again to another new normal.
What is the best career advice you have received?
The more you learn, the more there will be to learn.
