Confidence to take that next big step – Clare Stramkowski – EA at AAco

Understanding and trusting in your abilities certainly builds self-confidence, as Clare Stramkowski can attest to. Clare is always willing to take risks and to go the extra mile to achieve better things, and her meeting with Nelita George connected her to a very busy role that challenges her and she couldn’t be happier!

Tell us a bit about yourself, and your role.

I have worked as an EA for the past seven years on the Gold Coast. I had always wanted to move my career to Brisbane and work in a large corporation.

I had an incredible experience with Majer, in particular Nelita. She gave me the confidence to make the big step to move to a corporate environment in Brisbane. Nelita genuinely cared about placing me in a role with a company that suited me.

My role includes heavy diary management for two Executives, the CFO and the General Counsel/Company Secretary. I manage their meeting minutes, expenses, travel management and so much more. It’s a very busy role with lots of challenges and I love every minute of it.

What are two positives you can tell us about how your employer has managed the work from home situation due to Covid-19?

The company is so supportive and caring especially during the current climate. They have communicated the effects on the company, they are monitoring everyone’s home situations and our ability to carry out our jobs at home. Its been an amazing experience and I feel so lucky to have been placed with AACo.

What is the best career advice you have received?

I think it would be that you spend more time at work than you do with your family and friends. Therefore it is extremely important that your work makes you happy.

Describe Majer in three words:

  • Supportive
  • Caring
  • Tenacious
